In 2001 Alonso was Artist in residence at the Richard Attenborough centre
for the Arts and Disabilities, University of Leicester. He gave a series of
recital lectures of 20th century music for percussion, formed Latin drumming
groups integrating many people with disabilities and created Latidos a
multicultural drumming installation with over a hundred participants
celebrating the music,drama, dance and words of the city of Leicester. This
was equally successfully revived in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire. From
2002-2004 he lectured in music performance modules and musicianship at
the music Technology department of De Monfort University in Leicester. In
April 2004 he was invited to give a conference and to be a member of the
Jury at “PerCuba” in La Habana
